Our story
Someone quite wisely said: Not everything has to be bought from Amazon and not everything must be made in China….
That statement could not ring more true for Chai Shy.
Born out of deprivation to see, hear, touch and feel, the colourful sights and sounds of Karachi, whilst in lockdown- the longing for it, is what became Chai Shy.
While amazon couldn't supply items of truck art and Alibaba couldn’t ship hand painted plates to adorn Biryani in, no sound in lockdown could seem further than the sounds of loud horns and no item of clothing would feel like the flow of cotton and linen, where no flower existed that rose in ranks to the smell of Chambeli, in the cool sea breeze of an evening in Karachi.
Chai Shy is that rhyming vernacular statement, when you ask someone over for a cuppa.
It is whilst sipping on that cup of tea that all your 6 senses come alive.
Taste, smell, sight, sound, touch and the sixth can be anything you are acutely aware of. Chai Shy’s would be, purpose.
SO WHAT IS CHAI SHY'S PURPOSE?
CULTURE. CREATIVITY. COMMUNITY
To change perception through art, through craft, through colour, through creativity.
To exhibit and excite, conversations of curiosity, from that hand crafted item. To make proud its owner as well as its maker, for a uniqueness rarely found.
And finally, to encourage exploration & understanding of a culture - unexplored.
